Staithes

This fishing village is the most northerly village on the North Yorkshire coast, close to Boulby cliffs, at 690ft the highest in England. A nab or headland protects this quaint village from the sea. It was here that Captain Cook began his career, apprenticed to a grocer before studying maritime navigation and eventually becoming one of the world's great explorers.
