Sandsend

Sorry this picture has been sold

Sandsend's long beach stretches for more than two miles to Whitby. Here the author Lewis Carroll thought of the idea for the tale of the walrus and the carpenter. The beach was often used as a road at low tide and the foundations for the pillars of a huge viaduct which once spanned the village, can be seen as a reminder of the coastal railway from Scarborough to Whitby. At Sandsend, seaspray, sand and light create an atmosphere of their very own.

An original watercolour. (ref OR17) The image size is 225mm x142mm and comes complete with 3 layer archival mount, size 330mm x 142mm and backing board.
